Choose what each participant should know
Group continuity is selected per companion. Choose the lorebook or older memory scope that fits each character rather than assuming the group merges their histories. A new premise need not inherit every event from a private conversation.
For a fictional missing-heirloom mystery, one companion might know the family while another has just arrived. Set up their continuity accordingly. When a detail is wrong, inspect the relevant companion's information instead of rewriting everyone's background.
A book shared with other chats is not an independent copy for this group. Changes affect the chats using it. Check that scope before removing an event another storyline still needs.
Create and configure the group thread
Use the plus control in the chat list and switch from Private to Group Chat. Choose two or three companions, including supported custom characters if wanted. Give the group an optional name so you can recognize it later.
Write an opening that explains the place and immediate problem. Give each participant a distinct reason to care about what happens next. Adjust the mode, thinking level and scene clock in the group's own settings. Changing account defaults for new chats does not necessarily update an existing group.
These are fictional AI participants, not other human members joining your account. You can steer the premise, but their replies can still miss a detail or need correction.
Keep photos and calls within their own limits
Unlimited text access does not cover every media request. Group photos have separate Moments charges. Supported Studio group images allow three people total, including a persona when used. A three-companion chat therefore does not create a fourth photo place for your own role.
Group voice calls are labelled beta. Review the available controls and charge before starting. If one companion's reply stops while the others respond, inspect that individual response before sending the same prompt again to the whole cast.
Common questions
How many AI companions can I select for one group?
Choose two or three companions. Those places are for AI characters, not additional human users.
Will a Premium subscription open Group Chat?
No. Ultimate is required. Premium lorebooks support private conversations but do not unlock groups.
Can a group include my own custom companion?
Yes. Supported custom characters can appear alongside catalogue companions when you select the cast.
Does everyone in the group remember the same events?
Not automatically. Continuity is selected for each companion. Check the individual lorebook or older memory scope used by that character.
