Select the response format
Choose SMS for shorter messages or Paragraph for a fuller response. Chat Settings applies to the conversation currently open. User Settings holds defaults for future chats, so changing a default is not a way to update every existing thread.
A companion is a fictional AI character. The name, portrait and delivery indicators do not represent a human taking your messages. You can establish an adult romantic relationship, an everyday friendship or a fictional plot within our content rules.
Use modes and thinking for different decisions
Every plan includes S3 and experimental X-3. Premium and Ultimate add S5; Ultimate also includes S4. These choices are separate from SMS and Paragraph.
With S3, S4 or S5 selected, open the gear icon, choose Thinking level and save. Max is an Ultimate setting. X-3 has no adjustable thinking level. A higher setting can increase the wait, rather than guaranteeing a longer answer or more accurate memory.
Give the next message a clear purpose
Imagine two adult characters repairing a radio before a fictional island celebration. Explain who you are and ask which repair to try first. Put actions between asterisks when you want to distinguish them from spoken dialogue. If you prefer another language, use it and state that preference.
Keep a different premise in another thread. The older memory system and paid lorebooks help maintain context, but mistakes still need correction. Editing an earlier message removes the later conversation; it does not preserve that branch.
For a larger cast, choose a conversation with several companions. To define your own role, use a saved persona instead.
Check the requirements before speaking aloud
Audio calls cost 50 Moments per minute. Check your account's eligibility and balance, allow microphone access and use compatible browser audio. Calls that never connect are not charged. We transcribe speech and delete the audio, while retaining the text for conversational continuity.
Text remains a separate allowance: Free includes 20 messages daily; Premium and Ultimate include unlimited messaging. A text subscription does not pay every media or call charge.
Common questions
Can a companion take the role of an AI girlfriend?
Yes. Choose a fictional adult and explain the relationship you want to explore. The dialogue is generated by AI, not sent by a real partner.
What if the companion answers in another language?
Ask it to continue in your chosen language and write your next message in that language. Companions generally follow the language you use.
Does Delivered mean the reply is finished?
No. It means your message arrived. Wait for the response before repeating it; the connection and thinking setting can affect the delay.
Do unlimited messages include images and calls?
No. Premium and Ultimate remove the daily text cap. Images, videos and calls retain separate Moments costs and feature requirements.
